This past weekend I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of attending Salon Melbourne 2012 – which I did get to go to last year. Lucky as its a trade show, and as you know i’m not in the beauty trend, just an enthusiast!
This time, I was lucky enough to sit in on a runaway workshop led by international makeup artist Nicola Burford, teaching us about what’s on trend for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 in her Runway to Reality show. Eye opening! I never have a clue about what colours are on trend except for when its too late. This season, inspired somewhat by Rooney Mara’s look from Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, a vampy berry lip with subtle eyes is in. You don’t have to go gothic; but a bold dark lip with a defined eye can be rocked from day to night.
On the flip side, for girls with complexions that may not be feeling the dark lip, porcelain skin and a light hand with blush, can rock some golden highlights and halo effects and rock the barely there makeup look. Both are appealing to me, and anyone can work it – provided skincare is looked at. Barely there makeup cannot work without gorgeous skin. I just learnt so much from this mini lesson – the very next day, I went to the movies (Hunger Games if you must know) with a vampy lip. I felt hot!
Not hot in terms of this body painting effort. I felt like a bit of a perve taking a pic but it just goes to show that I can barely manage a good winged eyeliner, yet this 3D effect using just brush strokes.. I’m amazed!
Oh, whilst I did stop by the tanning area, how could I not snap a shot of this HUNK?! As much as I thought I’d never indulge in tanning products, I did get some buildable tanning cream for my legs as now I’m in a corporate job, my ghostly legs need to be less Casper-y!
Some lashes, Make Up Forever goodies (!), Morrocanoil mousse, rose water toning mist.. brands I’d never had before. Mission: accomplished! Can’t wait to try all of these out and let you know how they stack up. Some are quite hyped..
